A Quick Trip to Atlanta
One thing we have surely embraced since our “Quitirement” in May of 2024 is “Just Do It”!!
A cast mate of Chris’ from Up With People lives near Atlanta, Georgia. She was preforming in ”Come From Away” in community theater. We have seen the program a few times but thought to ourselves what the heck, let’s see it again especially with someone we know performing in it.
So we booked our tickets and our accommodation for a 36 hour whirlwind trip from the campground to Atlanta and back to the campground!

There are four “Uppies” in this pic and two spouses.
This piece of twisted eye beam is from one of the world trade centers in New York. It was on loan to the theater for this performance. It is still surreal to think of that day. Everyone knows where they were. Everyone remembers what they were doing. Everyone remembers sitting glued to the TV and disbelief.
This is the firefighters uniform from a firefighter, who did their best to save as many people as they could. This is on loan as well.

A typical breakfast while in the South!!!
Hmmm…we don’t really need to return to the campground, do we?
This “worker” sat in that same seat for three hours!
We watched this A350 arrive from some international place. We watched the ground crew load and unload various things. We watched the Captain and First Officer walk around doing a preflight. After about a 5 hour turn it was loaded up to the brim with passengers enroute to Paris!
Of course, we can’t miss Mass!!! So we found Mass being prayed at one of the several of the interfaith chapels!!!
Look who the lector was!!!
In and out in 21 minutes!!! We were very grateful for Mass at the airport. It was the first time we have ever gone to mass at an airport!

ATL is a HUGE hub for Delta. Huge!!!
Here, Chris is enjoying the “snackle” box that she packed for us.
This “hurry up and stand up” activity always makes me laugh. They all stood there for an additional 15-20 minutes as we waited for the ground crew to get the jetway moved.
