Never Doubt the Goodness of People

When we left our careers and started this new life, we never expected to ride an emotional roller coaster through work-camping experiences.

When we left Knutson Farms in Fisher, MN, after the sugarbeet harvest, we pulled away without ever saying personal face-to-face goodbyes. We knew we couldn’t do it without tears. These people and this experience were gifts from God.

When we left the Flying C Ranch in Encino, NM, after just 17 days and even fewer work shifts, we left smiling, knowing that we had just left a position we knew we would not be happy with. We left feeling strong in our decision, but really unsure of where we would land next.

Then we landed, just a day later, in the panhandle of Texas with David and Lisha at the Silver Wind RV Park & Cabins. We worked with them for four months. We had a blast, learned a lot and enjoyed their company. When we pulled out to head to SW Michigan, we were sad to leave. Again, our good-bye was quick so as to avoid the emotions.

For the past seven months, we have worked as the park managers at the Wonder Woods RV Park in the Sister Lakes area of SW Michigan. Today, we pulled out, and there were tears. The owners, Lori & Jim, are two of the kindest and hard-working people you will ever encounter. Here, we learned how to open and close a campground for the season. We learned how to manage the day-to-day operations and, most importantly, how to always have “a guy” who can repair things when they break. One word…WOW.

Now what? Well, for the first time on this work-camping journey, we don’t know! After taking care of some doctor visits, getting new glasses, and getting new shoes for the truck in the Joliet, IL area, we will spend a week in Springfield, IL. We will eventually head to South Texas in hopes of getting a gate-guarding job at one of the oil fields or fracking sites. At this point, we don’t have a job lined up. This, honestly, is a little unsettling for one of us! Please keep us in your prayers, not only for a job but for a safe journey.

To wrap up… Never doubt the goodness of people and their impact on your heart. More than ever before on this journey, “We RVery Blessed”.

Never Doubt the Goodness of People

Just before we pulled off the “Camp Host” site. The fall colors are absolutely beautiful!

Never Doubt the Goodness of People

Here we have pulled out the gate of the campground. One last pic before we hit the road! Thank you God for such an awesome experience!
