Our new work-camping gig is at the Wonder Woods RV Park & Cabins at the Sister Lakes in Dowagiac, Michigan. We arrived here on March 29th. The campground is under new ownership. It has been closed for one and a half years, so improvements could be made, and let us tell you…improvements have been made!!! Long before we got here, the owners had all new crushed asphalt RV pads put in, the roads repaved, and had started with the layout and pouring of concrete patios at each site.
Since we’ve arrived, we’ve been very busy doing our part to help get the park ready to open the season just the other day!
The details of what we have been up to are in the photos and photo captions below. Please take a minute to see all we have been doing!
While it has been a VERY busy few weeks, we are having an absolute blast! Please visit the Wonder Woods Michigan Facebook page, and if you don’t already follow it, please do.
We have also been working on the campground website. We would really appreciate your constructive feedback. If you have a moment, please check it out at wonderwoodsmichigan.com

Keys…there are probably over 100 keys, some labeled, some not. We are working our way through them to get them all figured out and tagged.

Here, Ken is assembling one of the bunk beds for the four brand new “glamping cabins”.

We assembled the a new foosball table for the Airbnb house game room. Do you notice anything awry?

Ken is about to put together one of the four table lamps for the cabins.

The finished lamp project.

This is what the cabins looked like before everyting was put together and put in place.

We both worked at assembling the foosball table.

Ken is installing pushbutton door locks.

After a hard days work, we get to relax in the Airbnb hot tub!!!

This is a pic of one of the four cabins being delivered!

There are LOTS and LOTS of sticks and branches that need to be burned. We have four different burn piles all around the campground.

Ken has never driven a bobcat. Here he is after figuring out how to start it, but can’t figure out how to get it to move!

The fire ring at the Airbnb house after all the sticks were collected and leaves blown away.

No, we didn’t dig this trench, but we had the trench dug so we could add an additional site with water, sewer and electric.

This is “The Strand”. It is a brewery and resturaunt. It is also where we BOTH have gotten part-time jobs! Chris is a hostess and “beer-tender”, and Ken is a food expidator, food runner and busser! Because we aren’t busy enough already!!!

Ken launched the drone to get an aerial view of the campground before any of the guests arrived for the season.

We love when we can all get together for a family gathering via Zoom!

Ahhh…some refreshing local brews from the “Sister Lakes Brewery”, just down the road from the campground!

The final set up of each of the four “glamping cabins”.

We had to cut some 2″x10″ boards for a guest.

The campground owner has ordered some merch!

The yellow option.

Noodle Guy, doing his thing and our new “OPEN” signs.

This fire extinguisher had expired, so Chris used it to practice her fire-fighting skills!!

Here Chris is installing the “Doggie Doo Doo” bag dispensers.

Our home is on site #1.

Our first seasonal guest arrived today. Ken backed the rig into the spot, while Chris spotted and gave directions.

We set up the new wood stands. They are really nice.

Chris is showing the “Now Open” signs we designed.

The concrete guys are pouring one of the 36 patios.

Ken used the chainsaw to clear the driveway of some obstructing trees.

Ken needed to scrub the speed limit sign so it was squeaky clean before installing it!

Chris went around to every water hose bib and spray painted them red. She also installed “back-flow” preventors on every site.

Ken installed the “W” and “M” on the restroom doors.

One of the many burn piles.

Chris needed to remove the shipping stickers from several windows in the game barn and the showerhouse.

Once all the site posts were installed, we went around and secured the site number signs.
