How Do We Find Work-Camping Jobs?
In a recent post, we asked our followers to let us know “What you are wondering about” regarding our “quit-irement” and living full-time in an RV on the road.
One question that came up was “How do you find work-camping jobs?”
This is a great question. In fact, there are many answers to it!
Facebook Groups: We belong to a number of different “Full-Time RVer” and “Work-Camping” groups on Facebook. On these pages, many employers will post their opportunities for all to see. If the position and compensation meet your needs then you can reach out to the employer and send them your “Work-Camper Resume”. Yeah…it’s a thing! See ours posted in the pics below.
Workamper News: This is a website that is made specifically for people like us, looking for work-camping opportunities as well as employers looking for work-campers! On this site, we have a cover letter and resume on file. We have selected the types of positions we are interested in or willing to consider and have selected the states where we are interested in working. We also can be very specific on what our compensation requirements are. To avail of the timely updates for jobs, we have an annual subscription to this site ($49).
Kamper Jobs: is another website very similar to Workamper News. This one though is free to both the employer and the work-camper.
Friends Experience: Over the past few years we have made several new friends and acquaintances who do exactly what we are doing. They sold everything they owned, bought an RV, and live full-time on the road. So we share our experiences with each other. If something piques our interest, we may look into scheduling it on our calendar. For example, we ended up at the travel center in New Mexico because Facebook friends of ours had worked there twice and really enjoyed it. As it turned out, it wasn’t a great fit for us, but we definitely don’t regret being there, nor the experience.
Work at KOA: This is a website that is focused only on jobs working in the KOA campground network. We have our friend Joni and her late husband Tommy to credit for being the initial spark that lit the interest in what we are doing today. We met Joni and Tommy at the Perdido Key Resort in Perdido Key, Florida way back in 2017. They were there on a little respite from working several jobs within the KOA system. While we haven’t worked at a KOA yet, we likely will in the future.
YouTube Channels: We follow a lot of Full-Time RVers on YouTube. Some of these YouTubers work remotely from their RV, some have YouTube as their only source of income and some “work-camp” in order to earn their living, like us. So we learn about the places that these influences work and add those places to our list of places we might check out down the road.
A few channels that we watch all the time:
~ Why Not Wander
~ Broken Dreams Reborn
~ Our Everyday Getaway
~ Sharing Our Journey
~ Midlife Journey
~ Wild RV Life
~ HappilyEverHanks
That’s pretty much it. There are A LOT of resources available for finding work-camping jobs. Just like anything else, you have to be diligent in your search and persistent.
Work-Camping has many different types of opportunities: For example; some work-campers volunteer their time somewhere in exchange for a free site (state parks and museums). Others will work “X” number of hours for free and then any hours worked after the agreed upon number will be paid as hourly wages (this is true for many privately owned campgrounds). Our requirement is a free full hook-up site and paid for ALL hours worked. Keep in mind…Though we are “quit-ired” we still need an income, and to be totally honest, we need to keep busy.
What else are you wondering about? Please post your question in the comments below and we may make a post to answer it!
We RVery Blessed!

We were hired as truck drivers during the sugarbeet harvest in Northwestern Minnesota.

Chris was recruited to plow the harvested fields.

Both of us spent a lot of time in this tractor, turning the fields once they had been harvested.

Sometimes you just have to try things on!!

A work-camper resume is a little different than a career resume.
