Someone asked Ken today, how we were liking this “new” life. The answer is…so far, very much so! Don’t get us wrong, it is very different. Living in a fifth-wheel RV comes with its own maintenance challenges and little changes in the way we live our day-to-day lives. For example, when we lived in a house we NEVER had to dump the sewer holding tanks! Haha!
Since our last post, Shamrock RV Service has been keeping us very busy. This was the plan all along. That’s why we decided to stay near the Chicagoland area so that we could take advantage of the huge RV clientele in the area. In fact, a transient neighbor who was camped next to us for a few days, hired us to clean their black and gray tanks! Chris runs the tank cleaning aspect of our business. She says, “Cleaning the tanks and seeing all that ‘stuff’ come out is very satisfying!”
One task we accomplished since our last post was assembling an IKEA desk, file cabinet, and chair! We pulled out one of the hide-a-bed sofas from the slideout and replaced it with an office space. We still have a hide-a-bed couch and the two recliners, should any of you want to visit and stay!
From a weather perspective, this past Thursday was W I N D Y !!! Sustained winds blew at 20mph with gusts as high as 60mph. So, at one point we pulled in two of the slides, to save the slide toppers from getting beat up or torn. That’s another thing we never had to do in a “sticks n bricks” house!
Chris has us on a two-meal-a-day program, usually a very late breakfast and then a regular time dinner. We are also trying to walk the campground at least once, sometimes twice a day.
