All Clear!

This is almost like the theme of “Planes, Trains, and Automobiles”!

We got the “all clear” that the RV roof replacement was complete and that we could pick it up at our convenience. Well, the panhandle of Texas had a different plan today…WINDS!!! The winds were sustained today between 30-35 MPH and gusting to 50 MPH!! Towing our home in those kinds of winds would be a disaster waiting to happen.

As it happens, the campground where we are working has ALL FIVE of the cabins booked for tonight, so we decided to drive to Lubbock, TX where the RV is, spend the night in our favorite hotel (Holiday Inn Express), go out to dinner, and pick up the RV in the morning when the winds are only forecast to blow at around 10 MPH.

We also stopped along the way to grab a geo-cache!

Fingers crossed that everything goes well tomorrow and we move back into our house on wheels!

Here, Ken is saving a tumbleweed from self-destructing!!!

See that twin mattress? We needed to add a twin bed to one of the cabins. It was absolutely hilarious to see us both trying to carry this mattress in 50mph winds from one side of the campground (storage) to the cabin. We made it!! We leaned it up against the side of the cabin so we could open the cabin door and the mattress BLEW AWAY!!!

This is a really small cemetery in Lorenzo, TX. Iron sign and all the concrete grave markers were the result of a Boy Scout Eagle Scout Project. Very cool! The geocache was located along the road to the cemetery.

Do you see it?

All Clear!

Dinner at Bryan’s Steaks was amazing. Here is what we had: Chris- Fried fish w/ baked potato and a roll. Ken- Chicken Fried Steak w/ baked potato and a roll. A very nice salad bar was included for both of us as was a soft serve ice cream cone!! We drank water (because we’re cheap). Total??? Drop your guess the post comments.
