How We Saved $238.00 per Month!
When we moved from a 1500 sq ft “sticks and bricks” home into a 340 sq ft box on wheels, a number of things change. There are many, many bills that we no longer have to be concerned with, yet new things need addressing.
Over the years, our family of seven has always had Verizon as our cell phone service provider. We never used them for anything else (home internet or TV). At one point, our monthly Verizon bill was somewhere north of $400. As the kids got older and ventured off on their own, they had to take over their own cell service. For many years, even though they were on our plan, they paid us their portion of the monthly bill.
When Maggie got married, she and Garret had their own cell plan. Slowly the other siblings started moving over to her plan. With Liam still in college (he graduated from ISU on December 15th), he was the sole offspring left on our plan. That all changed at the end of November. He bought a new phone and moved off of our plan and onto Maggie’s. Then there were just the two of us (Chris and Ken).
We had done lots of research on other cell phone providers and major provider off-shoots (discount carriers). The one that seemed best for us was “Visible” by Verizon. With Liam still on our plan, and all phones paid off, we were paying $278 per month for an unlimited data plan and NO additional perks or subscriptions. When Liam left our plan and we moved to Visible, our monthly bill for unlimited talk, text, and data dropped to $40 ($20 each) per month! That’s a monthly savings of $238!!!
So far, the Visible transition has been seamless. We still have amazing 5G coverage, even in the middle of the Texas panhandle! We have hot spot availability if necessary. But the best part…SAVING $238 per month!!! The caveat…We don’t have any “service” (warranty) on our phones. We both have the iPhone 13 ProMax with lots of capacity still on them. Of course we aren’t sure when their “planned obsolescence date” is scheduled!
