Tire Trouble (for the third time)!

Apparently, the old adage that troubles come in threes is accurate…

Today we got our THIRD FLAT!!!!

Thankfully, the TireMinder TPMS did its job and alerted us to the rapid loss of pressure. Captain Chris was able to navigate to rig to a safe place and First Mate Ken got the tire replaced with the spare. Again, this time it was a faulty air fill valve.

After this tire gets a new valve all four tires, though they have less than 2000 miles on them will either be brand new or have new valves.

PS…It was 110*F while changing the tire!

This is our “Tire Minder” Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Here you can see that the right, front tire on the fifth wheel has a significantly lower pressure than the other three. The tire dropped almost 30psi in less than three minutes.

Two things we had purchased a long time ago that have really come in handy are this “flat ramp” and bottle jack. We never thought we’d need to use them THREE times in less than a month!

Teamwork, make the… flat tire changing go faster!

Here Chris has lowered the spare from under the RV and is working it out to the side.

Having a pneumatic impact wrench was very useful. We have a ViAir 12 volt air compressor with a REALLY long air hose.

It was over 100*F while we were changing this tire.
